A manual for using MATLAB in a course on Ordinary Differential Equations. Describes two special MATLAB routines. dfield8 plots direction fields for single, first order ODEs, and allows the user to plot solution curves. pplane8 plots vector fields for planar autonomous systems. It allows the user to plot solution curves in the phase plane, and it also enables a variety of time plots of the solution. It will also find equilibrium points.

Types of Models









Basically these are main types of models that we shall explore and discusss.









Discrete- malthusian, logistic, malthusian/logistic modified,other type of linear and non linear models (other similar type)



Continous- malthusian, logistic, malthusian/logistic modified,other types of linear/nonlinear models (population, newtons law of cooling, decay, mixture problems etc)



Systems- competition, predator and prey model, disease model (other similar type)
